Chefchaouen is situated in the Rif Mountains in the northwest Morocco, is a blue and white washed city and one of the most emblematic cities to visit.
The name refers to the shapes of the mountain tops that tower over the town looking like two horns (chaoua) of a goat. “Chef Chaouen” means “look at the horns”.
Its blue-glazed houses are a tradition that comes from the town’s former Jewish population and is of the main concentrations of Moriscos and Jews who search shelter after the Spanish Reconquista in medieval times.
